Dear Families:
Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions that you will make. At Raritan Valley Montessori, our intention is to create a partnership between home and school. Communication between parents, teachers and administrators, is an integral part of our program. The family unit is extremely important to us, and our goal is to satisfy the needs of our parents, as well as our children. Our admission process allows us to get acquainted to see if our school matches the vision and goals you have for your child. Through this multi-step process, you will gain information and an experience necessary to make an educated decision.
Your first step is to schedule an Admissions Tour. This will provide you with an understanding of the Montessori philosophy and curriculum. I will review the different programs that are available, as well as answer any questions you may have. I will take you into the classrooms so you can see the children in action.
At the tour you will receive a packet of information, including an application. If you would like to continue the process you need to submit an application. Once received, a class visit is then scheduled for your child. The class visit is an opportunity for your child to experience first-hand how a Montessori classroom functions.
The final step in the admissions process is a meeting with parents/guardians and with a member of our administration.
It is important that a Montessori school be either accredited by or affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS). These schools have met standards that are authentic to Montessori’s vision and philosophy. If you are interested in learning more about Montessori, I would recommend reading about our educational philosophy online and suggest the book, Montessori Today: A Comprehensive Approach to Education from Birth to Adulthood by Paula Polk Lillard.
Please feel free to contact me to answer any questions that you might have or to take the first step in our admissions process, by scheduling an Admissions Tour.
I look forward to meeting you so we can start our journey together.
In the service of the child,
Donna Fiumara
